Mark Johnson

Mark taught 5th grade at Windy Hills Elementary for 12 years before accepting a principal position at Glenwood Elementary of Kearney Public Schools. His passion for education is growing exponentially. He blends humor, a family atmosphere, and the spirit of Elvis to build relationships with his students, but most importantly, to help support them in the #1 position of their learning. As a presenter, Mark tells stories and uses real-life examples to help spread his message. And if it wasn't for Sam keeping him focused, his whole presentation would be one long birdwalk. Despite his penchant for birdwalking Mark received the "2004 Milken Family Foundation Award" for the state of Nebraska.
Sam Stecher

Sam has been teaching and coaching for Kearney Public Schools since 1997.
His intention was to teach History at the secondary level. However, Horizon
Middle School had other plans for him. Currently he teaches American History
on Team 8-4. Ask him about his school and you are sure to hear the words
"family" and "totally rocks" in his description. Sam has taught two grade
levels in three subject areas and everything from self defense to yearbook
in exploration classes. Additionally he serves on the board of directors for
the
Nebraska Association for Middle Level Education.
He brings passion, energy, and numerous dogs to his classroom. His mission
is make learning a conscience choice on the part of the student. As a
presenter Sam has a rapid fire, fast paced, skills based message. You might
miss something if Mark wasn't around to keep him in check. You can also read
some of Sam's thoughts in the books
